Xavier Takes Game Two of Doubleheader to Secure Series Win Over Creighton

Conor Grammes went 7.0 innings in the start, striking out six and allowing just one run
OMAHA, Neb. -Â Xavier baseball secured its fourth BIG EAST series win, taking the series finale at Creighton, 3-1, in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday. Xavier moved to 19-24 overall and 9-2 in BIG EAST play to stand atop the conference standings. The Musketeers extended its lead on second-place Creighton by taking 2-of-3 this weekend.
Creighton took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and the two teams went scoreless until the sixth inning when Xavier scored a pair to take a 2-1 lead. The Musketeers added another run in the eighth to set the score at 3-1.
Xavier plays a pair of home games against Miami and Northern Kentucky midweek before hosting Seton Hall for the finale BIG EAST home series of the season.

SIXTH INNING | Â Kody Darcy and Conor Grammes each walked and Jake Shepski hit a single to right field to load the bases with one out. Matt Warketin hit a single to left field to send Darcy and Grammes ahead, putting Xavier ahead, 2-1.
EIGHTH INNING | Kody Darcy walked and Conor Grammes was hit by a pitch to put two runners on with one out for Jake Shepski who singled to right field to send Darcy home, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Musketeers.
