OMAHA, Neb. - Xavier baseball fell, 5-0, in a seven inning outing to begin a doubleheader at Creighton. The Bluejays and Musketeers split the first two games of the series with the deciding game to be played Sunday afternoon.

Creighton took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, then added insurance runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings to seal the 5-0 win over the Musketeers. The shutout ends a 17-game streak of not being shutout for Xavier.

The series finale is set to being at approximately 1:00 p.m. ET.

XU AT THE PLATE

Conor Grammes led off the game with a single, going 1-of-3 at the plate.
Allbry Major collected a single in a 1-of-3 day at the plate.
Natale Monastra also singled, going 1-of-3 at the plate.
Luke Franzoni collected a walk, the only base on balls in game one for the Musketeers.

XU ON THE MOUND

Griffin Lanoue went two innings in the start, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks.
Sam Czabala pitched two innings, striking out a pair and allowing one earned run on one hit and two walks.
Matt Kent pitched the fifth, allowing one run on three hits and a walk.
Taylor Williams came in for the first out of the sixth, walking three.
Nathan Berg closed out the final .2 of the sixth inning, getting double play to get the Musketeers out of bases loaded, one out situation.
