The Musketeers move to 3-1-1 on the year following the loss
CINCINNATI - No. 10/11 Xavier men's soccer lost its first match of the season on Saturday night, dropping a 3-2 double overtime match against Memphis.
The Musketeers dropped to 3-1-1, while the Tigers improved to 3-2.
13' | XAVIER | Senior Samson Sergi scored the first goal of the match on a penalty kick.
48' | MEMPHIS | Sam Ashton scored the first Tiger goal on a penality kick.
49' | XAVIER | Senior Derrick Otim scored on a free kick just outside the top left side of the box.
69' | MEMPHIS | Sam Ashton scored his second goal of the match off a pass from Chris Mikus.
109' | MEMPHIS | Sam Ashton scored his third goal of the match, finding the back off the net off a header from just outside the goal. Chris Mikus was credited with an assist.
• Senior Derrick Otim scored his second goal off the season, increasing his career total to seven. The midfielder led six players with two or more shots with three.
• Senior Samson Sergi scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season, increasing his career total to 24 - now ranking him tied for 10th in program history.
• Redshirt-junior Matthew Rosenberg (3-1-1) made one save on the night, while allowing three goals.
• Xavier had three more shots (13-10) than Memphis on the night and posted three more corner kicks (3-0). The Musketeers also committed three more fouls (17-14).
• The Musketeers moved to 20-6-5 at home since the start of the 2016 season.
• Xavier travels to IUPUI on Tuesday, Sept. 17. First touch is set for 7 p.m.
