Men's Tennis Defeats Thomas More, Falls to Georgetown on Friday

THE MATCH: GEORGETOWN |
In doubles, Georgetown opened with two wins in the No. 3 spot and No. 1 spot. The Hoyas defeated Michael Lee and Jan Vrba, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot and beat Brett Winters and Srdan Pejic, 6-2, in the No. 1 spot. Matthew Graft and Shashank Reddy led Georgetown, 5-4, in the No. 2 spot when the doubles point was decided.
In singles action, Georgetown picked up their second point after defeating Dominic Macaluso in the No. 6 spot. Graft responded for Xavier with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot, and Aaron Thompson gave the Musketeers their second point with a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot. Winters gave Xavier a 3-2 lead after claiming the No. 1 spot, 6-3, 6-1. The Hoyas then responded with two-straight wins in the No. 4 spot and No. 2 spot to claim the victory, 4-3.

In doubles, the Musketeers opened the match with a 1-0 lead after defeating Thomas More in the No. 3 spot and the No. 1 spot. Macaluso and Jake Zipoli took care of the No. 3 spot, 6-0, while Winters and Pejic also picked up a 6-0 victory.
In singles, Macaluso started Xavier off with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot, and teammate Jan Vrba claimed the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-0. Thompson had another 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 4 spot and the Musketeers dominance continued with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 2 spot from Pejic. A 6-4, 6-0 win in the No. 5 spot from Zipoli and a 6-4, 6-4 victory in the No. 1 spot rounded off the dominating win for Xavier.
