CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis opened a weekend featuring with a pair of home matches by falling 6-1 to conference opponent St. John's. Xavier returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting George Washington at 4:30 p.m. at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.

THE MATCH

St. John's went ahead 1-0 with the double point, winning the No. 1 spot over Brett Winters and Srdan Pejic, 6-2, and the No. 2 spot over Matthew Graft and Shashank Reddy, 6-4. Michael Lee and Jan Vrba were tied 5-5 in No. 3 doubles when the point was decided.

In singles, Xavier grabbed a point in the No. 4 spot with Shashank Reddy taking the win in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.

In the No. 1 spot, Brett Winters fell, 6-4, 6-2. Matthew Graft fell, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 3 spot. St. John's picked up a point in the No. 5 spot with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Aaron Thompson and won the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-1 over Michael Lee.

In the No. 2 spot, Srdan Pejic opened up with a first set win before falling in three, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
