
Men's Tennis Returns to Action at Marquette

CINCINNATI – Xavier men's tennis returns to action on Saturday, February 29th as they take on Marquette. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

- Marquette finished the 2018-19 season with a 15-9 record and went 8-1 at home. The Golden Eagles finished 5-2 in BIG EAST Conference play.
- Last season, Marquette defeated Xavier, 4-0.
- The Golden Eagles fell in the final round of the BIG EAST Championships to St. John's, 3-4.
- Marquette has begun the 2020 season with a 5-4 overall record.
- This will be the Golden Eagles' first BIG EAST matchup of the season

- Xavier men's tennis fell in their second home match of the weekend to George Washington, 5-2, last Saturday afternoon
- Xavier went ahead 1-0 with the doubles point after Brett Winters and Matthew Graft secured a 6-4 win in the No. 1 spot and Srdan Pejic and Shashank Reddy picked up a 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot. Michael Lee and Jan Vrba were defeated, 6-4, in the No. 2 spot.
- In singles, Xavier's only point came courtesy of Reddy as he defeated George Washington on the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. Winters fell in the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-7 (4-6), 7-5. In the No. 2 spot, Pejic fell, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 and Graft fell in the No. 3 spot, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-0. In the No. 5 spot, Aaron Thompson was defeated, 6-0, 6-3, and Michael Lee was defeated 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 6 spot to close out the match.
