Two-RBI hits from Franzoni and Schultz fuel Musketeers offense
LONG BEACH, CA - Xavier baseball gave Long Beach State all they could handle in a late-night battle in California. After two early runs scored, Xavier responded with a two-RBI single from Franzoni. When LBSU scored again, Xavier responded with an 8th inning double to go ahead in the 8th. However, a bad break in the bottom of the 8th took the wind out of the Musketeers, and Long Beach State went on to win 8-4.
The Musketeers will be back for Game Two, tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. ET
5th INNING | Franzoni hit a two-RBI single with the bases loaded to tie things at 2-2 midway through the ball game.
8th INNING | Down by one with two outs, Garrett Schultz powered a double in the gap to score two and give the Musketeers a 4-3 lead.
The Musketeers will be back for Game Two, tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. ET

- Jack Housinger was 1-4 with a run in the leadoff spot; hitting safely in seven straight contests.
- Luke Franzoni had one of the biggest hits of the night with a 2-RBI single in the 5th.
- Garrett Schultz had the other key hit, a 2-RBI double in the 8th as part of a 1-4 day.
