CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis defeated Fordham, 4-3, on Friday afternoon at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club. With the win, the Musketeers improve to 5-9 on the season and are now 2-5 in home matches. The Musketeers will return to action on Monday, March 9th when they take on Creighton. The match is set to begin at 12 p.m. in Orlando, Florida.

THE MATCH

Xavier grabbed the doubles point after Srdan Pejic and Shashank Reddy defeated Fordham in the No. 3 spot, 6-2. Xavier fell in the No. 2 spot, but responded in the No. 1 spot with a 6-4 win for Brett Winters and Matthew Graft, giving Xavier a 1-0 lead.

In singles, Winters grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 1 spot to take a 2-0 lead. Michael Lee secured a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 6 spot, giving Xavier a 3-0 lead. Aaron Thompson then fell in the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-3, and Graft fell in the No. 3 spot. Fordham tied the score at 3-3 with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 4 spot over Reddy. Pejic sealed the match victory for the Musketeers, defeating Max Green of Fordham, 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), to give the Musketeers their fifth win of the season.
