Xavier Opens Outdoor Track and Field Season at Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

• Sam Burroughs was named the new head coach for cross country/track and field on Jan. 4, 2021. He joins the Musketeers after previously working as associate head coach at Cincinnati from 2013-20.Â
• Burroughs brings 20 years of collegiate experience to Xavier. He has coached 96 individual conference champions and 45 individual NCAA qualifiers, while leading 18 teams to conference championship titles.

• Coach Burroughs announced the hiring of Tevin-Lloyd Thompson as assistant track and field coach on Feb. 11, 2021. Thompson most recently coached at the high school level. He was the sprints coach at North College Hill HS during the 2020 season.

• The Harbour View, Jamaica, native competed at Cincinnati from 2014-17. He competed in the 4x100 meter relay and the 60-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

• Xavier has competed in two events this season, the Al Campbell Invitational (indoor track and field) on Feb. 19 and the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships on March 5.
• Xavier posted six top-five finishes at the at the Al Campbell Invitational, paced by Courtney Klatt who won the 3,000-meter run (10:01.03).
• The Xavier women placed eighth at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships, while the men placed ninth. Courtney Klatt led the women, placing 34th in a time of 21:53.40. Brady Harless paced the men with a 44th-place finish (24:59.90).
