Netzel scores her first collegiate goal in the final 10 minutes off assist from Carrie Lewis

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer moved to 3-0 for the first time since 1997 after picking up a 1-0 win over crosstown rival Cincinnati on Thursday evening.

The two teams played a scoreless draw into the final 10 minutes of the match before Chloe Netzel notched her first collegiate goal in the 81st minute from Carrie Lewis to put the Musketeers in front. Netzel's goal was eventually the game-winner in the 1-0 outing, after goalkeeper Olivia Jenkins and the Xavier defense picked up their second shutout win of the season.

Next up, the Musketeers remain at home for final game of a three-game home stand, hosting Murray State on Sunday, August 29 at 1:00 p.m. The match is part of a doubleheader with Xavier's men, who will face IUPUI at 6:00 p.m. The game will be available for live stream through FloSports.

Carrie Lewis picked up the assist on Netzel's goal, her first of the season and 13th of her Xavier career.
Xavier held a 12-6 advantage on shots, led by three for Netzel and two each for Emma Marcus, Mathilde Rasmussen and Shelby Sallee.
Xavier had nine corner kicks to just one for Cincinnati.
Olivia Jenkins played the full 90 minutes in frame, collecting three saves to pick up the clean sheet, her second of the season and 10th of her Xavier career. She moves to 3-0 on the season.
Grace Brauer and Hayley Jakovich both played the full 90 on the Xavier backline to help keep the Bearcats off the board.
The Musketeers have picked up results in three-straight matches against UC, including playing to scoreless draws in 2019 and 2015. This is Xavier's first win over UC since 2013 and the first of head coach Nate Lie's Xavier career.
Xavier moves to 3-0 for the first time since starting the 1997 season at 5-0.
