Men's Tennis Travels to Dayton for UD Hidden Dual

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis will travel to the Graul Tennis Complex at the University of Dayton to take part in the UD Hidden Dual, starting on Friday, Oct. 1 and running through Saturday, Oct. 2. The Musketeers will face off with teams from IUPUI and Northern Kentucky in addition to the Flyers.

Following the tournament at Dayton, Xavier will close out the fall schedule at the Cleveland State Viking Invite, beginning on Friday, Oct. 29.

The Musketeers returned eight letter-winners from last season, including Brett Winters, who competed primarily in Xavier's No. 1 singles spot, as well as regular singles players Cambell Nakayama, Shashank Reddy and Aaron Thompson. Xavier also added five newcomers, including a three-person freshman class and a pair of transfers.

FALL RESULTS

Six Musketeers traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., last weekend to take part in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, picking up a combined 11 wins.
Diego Nava advanced to the round of 32 in the main draw, picking up wins over competitors from MTSU, Vanderbilt and Louisville on the way to a 3-1 singles record for the weekend.
Marco Pennelli picked up a win over Vince Orlando of Ball State in the first round of the singles main draw, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, finishing the weekend 1-1 in singles play.
Cambell Nakayama also advanced to the round of 64 in the main draw after topping Petar Petrovice of Indiana 6-2, 6-2, going 1-1 in singles action for the weekend.
After falling in the first round of singles play, Charlie Temming advanced to the round of 16 in the consolation bracket with wins over Parrish Simmons of Ball State and Jake Penny of Lipscomb, going 2-2 for the weekend.
Ryan Cahill topped Brandon Ponomarew of NKY, 6-2, 6-1 in the consolation bracket and Brett Winters picked up a win over Tom Berry of NKU in the consolation bracket, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
In doubles action, Ryan Cahill and Diego Nava combined to going 1-1, picking up an opening round win over ETSU, 8-6. Marco Pennelli and Charlie Temming also picked up an opening round win 8-7 (3) over Dayton.
