Women's Tennis Set to Travel to Purdue on Saturday

Musketeers opened the season at 2-0 with wins over NKU and Dayton
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis will look to move to 3-0 on the season on Saturday, January 22, traveling to West Lafayette, Ind., to face Purdue at noon at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Following the match with the Boilermakers, Xavier will travel to Memphis to face off with the Tigers, as well as South Florida next weekend.

- The Boilermakers opened the spring season at 2-0, picking up wins over Cincinnati, 5-2, and IUPUI, 7-0, last Sunday.
- Purdue went 6-11 last fall, playing to 6-10 in an All-Big Ten regular season.
- The Boilermakers fell, 4-3, in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Xavier last faced Purdue in the spring opener in 2020, falling 6-1 in West Lafayette, Ind.

- Xavier's women's tennis moved to 2-0 on the season after picking up a 5-2 win against Dayton at Eastern Hills on Saturday evening.
- Xavier took the doubles point with a 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot for Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham and a 6-2 win in the No. 3 spot for Blessing Nwaozuzu and Natalie Moyer. Anna Smith and Anne-Sophie Courteau were tied 3-3 in the No. 2 spot when the point was decided.
- Xavier picked up four two-set wins in singles play, with Imani Graham taking the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-2 to move to 2-0 on the season in the No. 1 spot.
- Anna Roggenburk too the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-1, to move to 2-0 on the season. Anna Smith picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot, also moving to 2-0 on the season. Anne-Sophie Courteau also moved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 5 spot.
- Dayton picked up wins in the No. 4 spot, 2-6, 6-2, 10-3, against Blessing Nwaozuzu, and the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-3, against Natalie Moyer.

- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
