Men's Tennis Travels to Louisville to Face Bellarmine, then Open Home Schedule with Cleveland State

Musketeers take on the Knights on Friday at 3:00 p.m., host the Vikings on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis heads to Louisville for a third-straight road match to open the season, taking on the Bellarmine Knights on Friday at 3:00 p.m. at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex. The Musketeers (0-2) then return home to host Cleveland State on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Eastern Hills.
The match with the Vikings opens a stretch of three-straight home matches, continuing on February 4 with Ball State and finishing with Youngstown State on February 5.

 BELLARMINE |
- Bellarmine is 0-2 on the season, falling 7-0 to Louisville on January 18 and 7-0 to Indiana on February 22.
- The Knights went 4-20 last season with a 0-6 record in ASUN play.
- Bellarmine fell 4-0 to Liberty in the ASUN Tennis Championship to close the season.
- Xavier took the 6-1 win over Bellarmine last season in Cincinnati, taking the doubles point and winning in the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots.

- The Vikings are 0-2 on the season, falling 7-0 to Michigan State in the season opener and 6-1 to Ball State last Sunday.
- The Vikings went 18-5 overall and 8-0 in Horizon League play last spring.
- Cleveland State topped IUPUI in the Horizon League Semifinals and NKU in the championship match to win the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Vikings fell, 4-1, to Kentucky in the NCAA First Round.
- Xavier faced CSU twice last season, falling 5-2 and 6-1 in Cleveland. In the first match-up Xavier took wins on the No. 5 and No. 6 singles courts, and then won on the No. 2 singles court the following day.

- After falling behind 3-1, Xavier men's tennis battled back to tie the match 3-3, taking the deciding singles match to a third set, but fell, 4-3, to Dayton to move to 0-2
- The two teams split the first two doubles decisions, with Xavier winning 6-3 on court No. 1 with Diego Nava and Ryan Cahill, and Dayton taking No. 3, 6-2, over Charlie Temming and Shashank Reddy. The Flyers took the doubles point on a 6-3 decision on the No. 2 court against Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama.
- The Flyers went ahead 2-0 with a win on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-1, against Charlie Temming, before the Musketeers picked up a point on the No. 3 court for Ryan Cahill, 6-3, 6-4, to make it 2-1.
- UD pushed it back to a 3-1 advantage with a 7-6, 6-1 win on the No. 6 court, 7-6, 6-1, against Marco Pennelli.
- The Musketeers picked up three set wins on courts No. 1 and No. 2 to pull even with the Flyers. Diego Nava moved to 2-0 on the year in the No. 1 spot with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win, and Brett Winters picked up a 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 win on No. 2.
- The deciding point came on court No. 5 where Cambell Nakayama battled through three sets but fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to set the final score at 4-3 in favor of the Flyers.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- The Musketeers returned eight letter-winners from last season, including Brett Winters, who competed primarily in Xavier's No. 1 singles spot, as well as regular singles players Cambell Nakayama, Shashank Reddy and Aaron Thompson. Dominic Macaluso, Pascal Mosberger and Jake Zipoli also return for Xavier.
- Xavier added five newcomers, including a three-person freshman class, Ryan Cahill, Marco Pennelli and Charlie Temming.
- The Musketeers newcomers also included a pair of transfers, Nick Loudermilk from College of Charleston and Diego Nava from Loyola Marymount.
