Musketeers and Nittany Lions face off at 3:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis hosts Penn State on Saturday, February 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Eastern Hills in the third of four-straight home matches.
Following the match with the Nittany Lions, Xavier will return on February 26 to host East Tennessee State at 6:00 p.m.

 PENN STATE |
- Penn State is 3-3 on the season with wins over West Virginia, Syracuse and James Madison. PSU fell to ODU, No. 8 NC State and Northwestern.
- The Nittany Lions went 10-8 overall and 10-7 in a Big Ten only regular season last spring.
- After earning a first round bye, PSU fell to Minnesota in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament.
- This is the first match-up between the two schools.

- After picking up a pair of wins in the No. 1 singles spot over the weekend, Ahmeir Kyle was named the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week.
- Kyle, a graduate student from St. Joseph, Mich., stayed unbeaten on the season in singles play after a 2-0 week against Michigan State and Virginia Tech. Kyle began the week with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 victory over the Spartans' Mary Lewis on Saturday. Two days later, Kyle notched a comeback win, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, to help the Musketeers to a 4-3 win over the Hokies.Â
- This is Kyle's first weekly award of the season and the first for the Musketeers of 2022.

 LAST TIME OUT |
- Â Xavier women's tennis closed out last weekend's schedule with a tightly-contested win, taking the 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Monday.
- In doubles action, Xavier split the first two decisions, with Anne-Sophie Courteau and Kat Lyman taking the 7-5 win on the No. 2 court and Anna Smith and Anna Roggenburk falling 7-5 on the No. 3 court.
- The No. 1 court came down to tiebreakers with Ahmeir Kyle and Imani Graham taking the 7-6 (4) win to pick up the point and put the Musketeers ahead, 1-0.
- In singles play, Xavier picked up a pair of two set decisions, with Imani Graham winning 6-0, 7-5 on the No. 2 court and Anna Smith winning 6-3, 6-3 on the No. 5 court.
- Virginia Tech picked up three two-set wins, a 6-3, 6-3 decision against Anna Roggenburk on court No. 3, a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kat Lyman on court No. 4, and a 6-4, 6-1 win against Anne-Sophie Courteau in No. 6 singles to set the match score at 3-3 with just No. 1 singles left to finish.
- After falling in the first set on court No. 1, Ahmeir Kyle battled through tiebreakers in the second set to force a third set, where she picked up the 6-4 win to take the 2-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4 decision to make it a 4-3 win for the Musketeers.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
