Women's Tennis to Play ETSU and Indiana this Weekend

Musketeers hosts Bucs at Eastern Hills on Friday, travels to face Hoosiers on Sunday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis plays a pair of matches this weekend, hosting ETSU at Eastern Hills on Friday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Bloomington, Ind., to face the Hoosiers on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11:00 a.m.
Following the match with the Hoosiers, Xavier will return home to host Saint Francis on March 5 at Eastern Hills.

- ETSU is 4-6 on the season, winning three of the last five, over MTSU, Belmont, Western Carolina and Appalachian State. The Bucs have fallen to Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, No. 9 NC State and twice to Kentucky.
- The Bucs went 13-10 last season, with a 7-2 record in Southern Conference action.
- ETSU picked up a 4-0 win over Wofford in the Semifinals of the SoCon Tournament before falling to No. 1 seeded Furman in the championship match.
- Xavier last faced ETSU in 2019, a 4-3 win for the Musketeers.

- Indiana is 5-3 on the season with wins over Yale, Marquette, Butler, Western Michigan and Bellarmine. The Hoosiers have fallen to Utah, Kentucky and No. 20 Tennessee.
- IU will face Cornell on Saturdy before facing the Musketeers.
- The Hoosiers went 1-16 with a 1-15 record in an all-Big Ten regular season.
- IU fell 5-2 to Minnesota in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
- Xavier last faced IU in Spring 2020, a 4-0 win for the Hoosiers.

- Â Xavier women's tennis fell 4-0 to Penn State on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
- In doubles action, Kat Lyman and Anne-Sophie Courteau fell 6-2 on the No. 2 court and Anna Roggenburk and Anna Smith fell 6-2 on the No. 3 court to give PSU the point. Ahmeir Kyle and Imani Graham led 5-3 in the No. 1 spot when the point was decided.
- Penn State picked up points in two sets on the No. 6 court, 6-0, 6-2, against Anne-Sophie Courteau, on the No. 1 court, 6-1, 7-5 against Ahmeir Kyle and the No. 4 court, 7-6 (2), 6-2 against Kat Lyman, setting the final score at 4-0 in favor of the Nittany Lions.
- On the No. 2 court, Imani Graham led 1-0 in the third set after splitting the first two sets, 3-6, 6-4.
- Anna Smith led on the No. 5 court, 6-3, 5-4, when the match was decided.
- Anna Roggenburk trailed 6-1, 5-4 on court No. 3 when the match ended.

- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.Â
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
