Women's Tennis Heads to Columbus to Face Ohio State

Musketeers and the Buckeyes face off at 3:00 p.m.
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis heads up I-71 on Saturday to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at 3:00 p.m.
Following the match with Ohio State, Xavier heads to Louisville to take on the Cardinals on Friday, March 18.

OHIO STATE |
- Ohio State enters the match at 7-3 with wins over Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Pepperdine and Penn State, entering the match with Xavier on a five-match win streak.
- The Buckeyes went 23-4 overall, playing to 15-1 in a Big Ten only regular season and earning a top-10 national ranking.
- Ohio State went on to beat Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament to win the title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
- The Buckeyes took wins over UIC (4-0) in the first round, and Vanderbilt (4-3) in the second round before falling to Texas (4-1) in the Round of 16.
- The two programs last faced off in 2015-16, a 6-1 win for the Buckeyes in Columbus.

- After picking up a sixth singles win for the season last weekend, sophomore Imani Graham was named the BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week by the conference on Thursday.
- Graham, originally from St. Johns, Fla., picked up a victory in No. 1 singles this past week against Saint Francis.
- The sophomore defeated Dominique Yeo, 6-1, 6-4 to help the Musketeers to a 7-0 team victory. Graham is now 6-3 overall on the season, including a 4-1 mark in the No. 1 singles slot.

- Xavier women's tennis picked up a 7-0 sweep of Saint Francis on Saturday.
- In doubles play, Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham took the first decision, a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court, and Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas clinched the point on the No. 1 court with a 6-2 win. Natalie Moyer and Kat Lyman trailed 5-3 on the No. 3 court when the point was decided.
- Blessing Nwaozuzu picked up the first singles decision, winning 6-3, 6-1 on the No. 4 court. Xavier stretched it to a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win on the No. 2 court for Kat Lyman.
- Anna Smith clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win on the No. 3 court, putting Xavier ahead 4-0.
- Imani Graham took the No. 1 court, 6-1, 6-4, Anne-Sophie Courteau picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win on the No. 5 court and Bella Kirby won on No. 6, 6-1, 6-4, to make it a 7-0 Xavier sweep.

THE MUSKETEERS |
- Xavier returned seven letterwinners from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including Ahmeir Kyle and Anna Roggenburk, who were were unanimous selections to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
- Roggenburk also earned the nod as Freshman of the Year for the conference while Kyle became the first Musketeer to qualify for the NCAA DI Singles Championship.
- The Musketeers also return all-conference honoree Kat Lyman, who earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers as well in graduate transfer Anna Smith, joining the Musketeers from Marshall, as well as freshman Bella Kirby.
- The Musketeers also added a mid-year transfer in graduate student Anne-Sophie Courteau. She comes to Xavier from West Virginia, where she collected over 75 combined wins in four seasons, including 44 singles wins and 34 doubles wins.
