Musketeers and Wildcats face off at 1:30 p.m.

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis hosts the Villanova Wildcats on Friday afternoon at Eastern Hills, set for a 1:30 p.m. start.

Following the match with Villanova, Xavier (9-5) heads out on the road to face Belmont on Friday, April 1 in Nashville, Tenn.

VILLANOVA

Villanova is 2-9 on the season, with wins over Jefferson and Coppin State.
The Wildcats went 9-11 last season, not playing a regular season BIG EAST match.
VU fell 4-1 to Marquette in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals.
Xavier last played Villanova in 2017-18, a 7-0 sweep for the Musketeers in Cincinnati.

LAST TIME OUT

Xavier men's tennis closed out its trip to Michigan with a 6-1 loss to Michigan State on Friday, March 18.
Xavier took the early lead with two tightly contested doubles wins. Brett Winters and Cambell Nakayama falling 6-1 on the No. 2 court in the first decision, but Charlie Temming and Shashank Reddy battled 7-6 (7-2) win on the No. 3 court and Diego Nava and Ryan Cahill clinched the point with a 7-6 (7-4) win on the No. 1 court.
MSU pulled into a 1-1 tie with a 6-4, 6-3 win on the No. 4 court against Temming and went ahead with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Caden Kammerer on the No. 6 court.
The Spartans took a 3-1 lead on the No. 3 court with 7-5, 6-2 win over Ryan Cahill and clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Diego Nava on the No. 1 court, ending Nava's nine-match win streak.
Michigan State picked up the final two decisions, taking the No. 5 court 7-5, 6-1 over Marco Pennelli and the No. 2 court 7-6 (7-4), 5-7, 1-0 (10-5) against Brett Winters to set the final score at 6-1

THE MUSKETEERS

The Musketeers returned eight letter-winners from last season, including Brett Winters, who competed primarily in Xavier's No. 1 singles spot, as well as regular singles players Cambell Nakayama, Shashank Reddy and Aaron Thompson. Dominic Macaluso, Pascal Mosberger and Jake Zipoli also return for Xavier.
Xavier added five newcomers, including a three-person freshman class, Ryan Cahill, Marco Pennelli and Charlie Temming.
The Musketeers newcomers also included a pair of transfers, Nick Loudermilk from College of Charleston and Diego Nava from Loyola Marymount.
