Head coach Billy O'Conner picks up win No. 100 as a head coach

WALDORF, Md. - Xavier baseball scored three runs in the ninth inning to break up a 1-1 tie, taking a 4-1 win in game one at Georgetown. With the win, head coach Billy O'Conner hits 100 wins for his head coaching career.

Xavier took the 1-0 lead in the third inning after Ethan Hodge hit a one-out single to right field, and Jack Housinger hit a single to center field to drive him in from second base.

The Hoyas responded with a run in the fifth inning, on a solo home run, to put the game into a tie that held into the ninth inning. With one out in the top of the ninth, Jared Cushing singled to right field, and Jeff Holtz singled through the left side, then both advanced into scoring position on a passed ball. Jared Cushing came home on a wild pitch to pu the Musketeers in front, 2-1.

Jerry Huntzinger and Jack Housinger both walked to load the bases and a Luke Franzoni single to right center drove in two more runs to set the final score at 4-1.

The Musketeers and the Hoyas return to action on Saturday, set for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Luke Franzoni went 3-5 at the plate, driving in two RBI with a single in the ninth inning.
Jerry Huntzinger went 2-4 with a walk, hitting a pair of doubles and coming around to score a run.
Jack Housinger finished wit an RBI, going 1-3 at the plate with a walk, extending his hitting streak to 14 games and his reached safely streak to 19 games.
Jeff Holtz went 1-1 pitch hitting, coming around to score a run.
Jared Cushing and Ethan Hodge each recorded a hit and scored a run. Garrett Schultz also had a hit on the day

XU ON THE MOUND

Luke Bell made the start, going 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair.
Trevor Olson entered for the final out of the third, going 1.2 innings, allowing just one run on a hit and a walk, striking out two.
Jack Lynch entered with on out in the fifth, going 2.0 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, walking a pair and striking out three.
Jared Gadd came in with one out in the seventh, going 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing tow hits and striking out a pair. Gadd picked up the win to move to 2-2 on the season
Jerry Huntzinger pitched the ninth inning, allowing one hit and one run, but holding the Hoyas scoreless with three strikeouts to get out of the inning, picking up his fifth save of the season.
