Musketeers face SLU on Thursday at 7 PM on FloSports
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer (4-1-1) returns to Corcoran Field on Thursday evening to host the first of three-straight home matches to wrap up the non-conference schedule, starting with No. 15 Saint Louis on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
The match between the Musketeers and the Billikens will be live streamed through FloSports.

- Saint Louis entered the USC Top 25 at No. 15 this week after receiving votes the week prior. Â SLU is 5-1 on the season after taking a 5-1 win over Nebraska on Sunday.
- SLU has a 1-0 win over top-10 ranked Arkansas squad, as well as multiple goal wins over Drake (3-0), Kansas City (5-0) and Missouri State (7-0). The lone loss of the season came against a ranked Notre Dame squad.
- Emily Gaebe leads Saint Louis with 11 points on five goals and an assist. Emily Groark has scored four times, and seven other Billikens have tallied so far this season, with three others scoring multiple goals in the first six matches.
- Emily Puricelli has started all six matches, with 18 saves and three goals against. She has a 0.52 GAA for the season.
- The Billikens went 13-9-1 overall last season and 7-3 in Atlantic 10 play, winning the A10 Conference title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
- Saint Louis was picked to win the A10 by the league coaches, putting five on the preseason All-Conference team.
- Among those players were 2021 All-A10 First Team selections Brionna Halverson, Abbie Miller and Emily Puricelli, A10 Rookie of the Year and second-team All-Conference selection Emily Gaebe, as well as Hannah Friedrich.
- Xavier is 4-3 against SLU all-time, after taking a 1-0 win in St. Louis last season.

- Simone Rivard-Roberts leads the Musketeers with two goals, both game-winners. Rivard-Roberts scored her first goal as a Musketeer in the season opener against Western Kentucky, in her first appearance after dealing with injuries in her first two seasons at Xavier. Her four points match for team-high.
- Avery Lockwood picked up her second assist of the season on Chloe Netzel's game-winner against Loyola, bringing her season total to four points. Lockwood, a transfer from Indiana, scored the equalizer in the eventual 2-1 win over Louisville, and picked up an assist on Regan Dancer's game-winner at Ball State.Â
- Chloe Netzel scored the game-winner in the final minute at Loyola, combining with an assist to bring her to three points for the season.
- Molly McLaughlin also has three points on the season after picking up an assist on Netzel's game-winner at Loyola. McLaughlin also has a goal on a PK in the first half at Ball State.
- Freshmen Emma Flick and Regan Dancer have each tallied once so far this season, the equalizer and the game-winner, respectively, in Xavier's 4-2 win over Ball State.
- Grad students Brooke Sroka also scored in Xavier's 4-2 win over Ball State, knocking in an insurance goal in the final minute of the game.
- Grace Blumfeldt and Rachel Dewey each have a point on an assist.
- Freshman Maria Galley has made all six starts in-goal, collecting 18 saves, with a .783 save percentage, with five goals against for a GAA of 0.83. Her record stands at 4-1-1 with three shutouts.
- Natalie Bain has played over 530 minutes on the Xavier backline in six starts so far in her freshman season. Maddie Reed has made five starts at center back and Grace Haggerty started the BSU game. Olivia Lawson and Elise Le have started all six matches at outside back, while Molly McLaughlin and Ella Rogers have started each match in the midfield.

- Xavier suffered its first setback of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 at Northwestern.
- The Wildcats struck quickly, knocking in the game winner in the first five minutes of the match, and adding an insurance goal less than 10 minutes later. NU held the offensive advantage in the first 45 minutes, out-shooting Xavier 8-3, with a 5-1 advantage on shots on-goal.
- Xavier created pressure for the Northwestern defense in the second half, taking six second half shots, with three looks on-frame, but were unable to score, setting the final score at 2-0.
- Sonia Vargas and Emma Flick each had two shots to lead the Musketeers.
- The Wildcats finished with a 15-9 advantage on shots, and an 8-4 advantage on shots on-goal.
- Northwestern held a 5-4 advantage on corners overall but the Musketeers had a 3-1 advantage in the second half.
- Molly McLaughlin played the full 90 minutes in Xavier's midfield. Maddie Reed and Natalie Bain each played over 80 minutes on defense for the Musketeers.
- Maria Galley faced a career-high 15 shots and collected a career-high six saves with two goals against in 90 minutes in-goal.

- After notching the game-winner for No. 19 Xavier women's soccer in Thursday's 1-0 win over Loyola, sophomore forward Chloe Netzel earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
- Netzel, who is originally from St. Louis, Mo., scored the game-winner in the final minute against the Ramblers to move the Musketeers 4-0-1. In the closing minute of the match, Molly McLaughlin crossed to Avery Lockwood just in front of the goal.
- Lockwood found Netzel on the right side of the net, with Netzel shooting low from six yards out to put the Musketeers in front 1-0 with 59 seconds remaining for her first goal of the season. She finished with three shots, with two on-goal.

- Women's soccer graduate student Molly McLaughlin was among the 61 NCAA Women's Division I college soccer players named to the 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List by United Soccer Coaches.
- McLaughlin, a midfielder from Granger, Ind., is coming off her third all-conference season as a Musketeer, earning a spot on the 2021 All-BIG EAST First Team and the USC All-East Region First Team, as well BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors. She was voted to the 2022 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team by the league's coaches.
- Last season, McLaughlin totaled 1,664 minutes in the midfield for the Musketeers, helping Xavier to a school-record 16 regular season wins and 10 shutouts. McLaughlin finished with three goals on the season, a pair coming in BIG EAST play, with one game-winner, against Marquette.Â
- The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.

 2021 SEASON |
- The Musketeers finished the 2021 season at 16-3-1 overall, setting a new school record for regular season wins (16). The Musketeers went undefeated in the non-conference portion of the home schedule, winning seven straight matches to open the season and playing Bowling Green to a draw to move into conference play at 7-0-1.
- Xavier went 9-1 in conference play, winning program's second BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and earning the opportunity to host the league Semifinals and Finals at Corcoran Field.
- The Musketeers earned a program-best ranking in both the United Soccer Coaches Poll (No. 11) and the RPI (No. 7) last season.
- Last season, Xavier earned the program's first at-large bid and home match in the NCAA Tournament.

- The Musketeers return 23 letter-winners from last fall, including All-BIG EAST First Team honoree Molly McLaughlin, BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Ella Rogers, and All-Freshmen Team members Chloe Netzel and Shelby Sallee.
- Xavier's returners account for over 80 percent of Xavier's goals last season, including Xavier's top six goal scorers in Netzel (6), Emma Marcus (4), Sallee (4), Rogers (4), McLaughlin (3) and Mathilde Rasmussen (3).
- Netzel led the Musketeers last season with 14 points total, Marcus and Salle each added 11 for the Musketeers.
- The Musketeers adds 13 newcomers, including four transfers and a nine-person freshman class.
- Xavier enters the season ranked No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason poll after finishing last season at No. 19, and also open up the 2022 season ranked No. 21 by Top Drawer Soccer.
- Xavier was selected to finish second in the BIG EAST Coaches poll, collecting a pair of first place votes.
- All-conference honorees Molly McLaughlin and Ella Rogers were named Preseason All-BIG EAST by the league coaches.

- Xavier remains at home for the second of three-straight home matches to wrap up the non-conference schedule, hosting Lipscomb on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1:00 p.m.
- Lipscomb is 3-3 on the season and are set to face Vanderbilt before taking on the Musketeers.
- The Bison went 15-5-1 overall and 7-2 in ASUN play last season, taking the league's championship and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
- Lipscomb was selected as the favorite to win the ASUN in the league's preseason poll, placing four on the Preseason All-Conference Team, and picking up the conferences' Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
- Among those players, are CJ Graham, the league's preseason pick of Goalkeeper of the year, who is coming off an ASUN First Team season where she was the Goalkeeper of the Year. Shelby Craft, also a ASUN First Team selection was picked to win ASUN Defensive Player of the Year for a third straight season. Molly Grant, a second team selection last season, and Kelli Beiler were also selected to the preseason team.
- Xavier is 2-0 against Lipscomb all-time, last facing the Bison in 2019, taking a 2-1 win.
