Musketeers finish with 9-0 advantage on shots on-goal
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 20 Xavier women's soccer remained unbeaten in BIG EAST play on Thursday, playing Providence to a 0-0 draw at Chapey Field. The Musketeers moved to 11-2-4 overall and 4-0-4 in BIG EAST play.
The Musketeers held the offensive edge in the first half, with a 9-2 advantage on shots, forcing the Providence to make six first-half saves to send the game into halftime scoreless.Â
Providence created more offensive pressure in the second half, taking four shots, but the Musketeer defense limited the dangerous opportunities for the Friars, not allowing a look on frame.
Xavier finished the second half with five shots, including three on-frame but the Friars' duo of goalkeepers, as well as a pair of team saves, combined for nine saves for the game, matching PC's season high.
Xavier wraps up a two-game road trip on Sunday, October 22, when the Musketeers head to Creighton to take on the Bluejays, set for a 2:00 p.m. ET start.
