Women's Tennis Travels to Indiana, Purdue this Weekend

Musketeers face Hoosiers on Saturday morning, Boilermakers on Sunday at noon
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis heads to Indiana for a pair of matches this weekend, facing the Indiana Hoosiers in Bloomington on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 11:00 a.m., then traveling to West Lafayette to face Purdue, set for a noon start on Sunday, Feb. 12.
Following the match with Purdue, Xavier will head back out on the road to face Illinois on Friday, February 17, set for a 6:00 p.m. start.

 INDIANA |
- The Hoosiers are 4-2 on the season, with wins over Butler, Bellarmine, Cincinnati and Cornell.
- IU went 10-15 overall in 2022, with a 3-8 record in Big Ten play.
- Indiana fell, 4-0, to Maryland in the Hoosiers' first match of the Big Ten Tournament.

- Purdue went 12-13 overall last season with a 3-8 record in Big Ten play. The Boilermakers took a 4-3 win over Rutgers in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament before falling to Nebraska 4-0 in the second round.

- Xavier picked up its second-straight win, topping Miami (Ohio), 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.
- In doubles, the Musketeers and the RedHawks split the first two decisions, with Miami taking the No. 2 court, 6-1, against Anna Roggenburk and Imani Graham, while Kat Lyman and Abby Nugent took 6-3 win on No. 1 court. Miami clinched the point with a 7-6 (6) win on the No. 3 court against Emily Flowers and Paulina Franco Martinessi.
- To open singles play, Abby Nugent took a 6-3, 6-1 win on the No. 3 singles court and Blessing Nwaozuzu took a 6-1, 6-3 win on No. 5 to put the Musketeers in front 2-1.Â
- Miami picked up a pair of singles points, on No. 2, against Kat Lyman, 6-2, 6-2, and on No. 1 against Imani Graham, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2, to move ahead 3-2.Â
- Emily Flowers picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win on the No. 6 court for Xavier's third point, tying the match at 3-3.
- Abigail Siminski took a 6-4, 7-5, 6-2 win on the No. 4 court to pick up the fourth point and clinch the match for the Musketeers.

 THE MUSKETEERS |
- The Musketeers wrapped up the 2022 spring season at 14-10 overall, brought home the program's third overall and second-straight BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's third bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Five letterwinners return from last season's BIG EAST Championship squad, including All-BIG EAST selection Imani Graham, Kat Lyman, Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu and Bella Kirby.
- Xavier also added four-person freshman class, Emily Flowers, Paulina Franco Martinessi, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski.
