Musketeers return home to host Cincinnati on Wednesday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Xavier baseball wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Wofford Terriers, taking the 14-10 win on Sunday afternoon, moving to 10-9 on the season.

The Musketeers took control early, taking a 7-0 lead in the first inning and adding a run in the second to lead 8-0. The Terriers cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame, trailing 8-4, and pulled within three with another run in the third, but the Musketeers posted another big inning in the fourth, scoring four, including a two-run homer for Matthew DePrey to go up 12-7.

Wofford added runs in the sixth and seventh to cut the lead back to two, 12-10, going into the ninth, but home runs from Carter Hendrickson and Jared Cushing set the final score at 14-10 in favor of the Musketeers.

Xavier returns home to host Cincinnati at Hayden Field, set for Wednesday, March 22 at 3 p.m.

ON THE MOUND

Luke Bell went 5.0 innings in the start, allowing five runs, three earned, on five hits, with one walk and one strikeout. Bell picked up the win, his first of the season.
Jonathan Kelly entered in the sixth, going 1.0 innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits.
Luke Hoskins started the seventh inning, going 0.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit and a walk.
Justin Loer entered for the final out of the seventh, pitching the final 2.1 innings of the game, not allowing a run, giving up just one hit and finishing with four strikeouts to two walks. Loer picked up the save, his first of the season.

AT THE PLATE

Alex Helmin finished with a team-high three RBI, going 2-4 at the plate.
Matthew DePrey (2-5) hit his team-high eighth home run of the season, finishing with two RBI.
Carter Hendrickson hit his third home run of the season and second of the weekend. He came around to score a team-high three runs.
Jared Cushing hit his fourth home run of the season, he went 3-5 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
Andrew Walker went 3-6 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored.
Tyler DeMartino went 3-5 at the plate with two RBI and a run scored.
Jack Housinger also drove in an RBI and scored a pair of runs.
