Musketeers wrap up season with 14 wins, a third-straight BIG EAST Championship, and the program’s fourth NCAA appearance

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Xavier women's tennis wrapped up the 2022-23 season on Friday, falling 4-0 to the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA Championships First Round in Columbus, Ohio.

Xavier wraps up the season at 14-8 overall, brought home the program's third-straight, and fourth overall, BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's fourth bid to the NCAA Championships. The 2023 Musketeers also featured the program's second BIG EAST Player of the Year, Imani Graham, and fourth BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Abby Nugent, and finished the season with a 6-0 record against BIG EAST opponents.

THE MATCH

In doubles play, Ohio State took the first decision on the No. 3 court, a 6-1 win against Emily Flowers and Paulina Franco Martinessi, and clinched the point on No. 1, a 6-1 win against Kat Lyman and Abby Nugent. Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk were tied 3-3 on No. 2 when the point was decided.

Ohio State went ahead 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win on the No. 6 court against Blessing Nwaozuzu, and extended it to a 3-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win on No. 2 against Kat Lyman.

The match was clinched on No. 3 singles, a 6-3, 6-3 win against Abby Nugent, setting the final score at 4-0 in favor of OSU.

When the match was decided, Imani Graham trailed 6-1, 5-2 on No. 1, Anna Roggenburk was tied in the second set after falling in the first, 6-0, 5-5 on No. 4, and Abigail Siminski was tied in a second set after falling in the first, 6-3, 3-3, on No. 5.
