Illini score just before the half to break Xavier's 14-match regular season unbeaten streak
CINCINNATIÂ - No. 17 Xavier women's soccer moved to 2-1 on the season after falling 1-0 to Illinois at Corcoran Field on Thursday evening.
The game was scoreless for the first 40 minutes, with Xavier holding an 8-2 advantage on shots and a 3-0 advantage on shots on-goal. In the 42nd minute, Illinois' Lia Howard found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead to give the Illini the advantage at halftime.
After the break, Xavier created seven shots, finishing with a 15-9 advantage on shots overall for the game, but were unable to find the back of the net, falling 1-0.
Next up, Xavier heads out on the road for the first road trip of the season, facing Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky., on Sunday, August 27. The Musketeers and the Hilltoppers are set for a 2:00 p.m. ET start on ESPN+.
