Xavier collects straight set victory for 1-0 start in conference play
INDIANAPOLIS - Xavier volleyball opened conference action with a straight sets (25-23, 25-22, 25-21) victory over Butler.
The Musketeers move to 8-4 (1-0 BIG EAST) on the season and the Bulldogs fall to 6-6 (0-1 BIG EAST).
Xavier earns its third consecutive win over Butler for the first time since the 2015-16 seasons.

• Brooklyn Cink, the graduate outside hitter, led the Musketeers' offense with 11 kills and a .476 hitting percentage.
• Sarah Stevens led the Musketeers' defense with the match-high three block assists and one block solo. The redshirt junior middle blocker also tallied four kills against the Bulldogs.
• Reshirt sophomore outside hitters Emma Grace and Anna Taylor both contributed six kills to the team's 36 total.
• Grace and senior libero Stevie Wolf combined for four service aces, registering two apiece.
• Carrigan O'Reilly, the graduate setter, recorded 19 assists and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, while raising her career total for assists to 3,764.
• Wolf posted a team-high in digs with 16 and was followed by O'Reilly with 10 and junior defensive specialist Lucia Corsaro with eight. Â
• The Musketeers totaled 36 kills, 34 assists, 52 digs, eight block assists, two block solos and four service aces in the three-set match.
