Women's Tennis Opens Fall with Strong Showing at Flyer Invitational

Musketeers go 20-3 overall against UD, NKU and UC
DAYTON, Ohio - Xavier women's tennis opened up the fall 2023 tournament schedule with a strong showing at the Flyer Invite, collecting 20 combined wins in the blind dual format while facing off with competitors from Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.
Xavier finished the weekend at 20-3 overall, with a 12-2 record in singles matches and an 8-1 record in doubles play.
As a squad, the Musketeers swept the Flyers, going 5-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles action, also picking up a fourth doubles win over Dayton in additional action.
Against NKU, Xavier collected eight wins total, going 5-0 in singles play and 3-0 in double action.
The Musketeers split six total matches with the Bearcats, going 3-3 overall, with a 2-2 record in singles play and splitting a pair of doubles matches
Individually, Imani Graham posted a 3-0 in the No. 1 singles spot, and collected two more wins in No. 1 doubles action paired with Abby Nugent, topping Dayton and Northern Kentucky.
Abby Nugent played No. 2 singles, posting a 2-1 record for the weekend. She finished the weekend with a 4-2 combined record, going 2-1 in No. 1 singles play with Graham.
Abigail Siminski went 2-0 in the No. 3 singles spot, then picked up three doubles wins, going 3-0 with Ellie Brotherton.
Sofia Mazzucato went 2-1 in singles play, playing in the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 spots. She also went 3-0 in doubles play, partnered with Emily Flowers in the No. 2 spot for all three matches.
Ellie Brotherton finished the weekend with a 6-0 combined record, going 3-0 in singles play, playing in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. She also partnered with Abigail Siminski to go 3-0 in doubles play.
Emily Flowers paired with Sofia Mazzucato to go 3-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot for the weekend.
Next up, the Musketeers will head to Bloomington, Ind., for the Hoosier Classic, set to take place from Sept. 29 through October 1. Select Musketeers will also take part in the ITA Women's All-American Championship in Cary, N.C., scheduled to run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 8.
