The two teams split the first four singles decisions, with Xavier tying it up at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win for Anna Roggenburk on the No. 3 court and picking up a second point on the No. 6 court with a 6-3, 6-2 win for Emily Flowers. Yale picked up wins on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-3, against Abigail Siminski, and on the No 5 court, 6-4, 6-3, against Sofia Mazzucato, to hold a 3-2 advantage with two courts still playing.
Abby Nugent battled into tiebreakers in a second set on court No. 2, but fell 6-2, 7-6 (2) to seal the win for Yale.Â
On the final court, Imani Graham took the win in the No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5, to set the final score at 4-3.
