Xavier Swimming Travels to Louisville for First Dual of the Season

Musketeers and Cardinals get underway at 3 PM on Friday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming head to Louisville, Ky. on Friday, Oct. 4, to take on Louisville in the first dual meet of the 2024-25 season. The Musketeers face off with the Cardinals at the Ralph Wright Natatorium, set to get underway at 3:00 PM.

MEET NOTES
- This is the Cardinals' first competition of the season.
- UofL's women are coming off a second-place finish at last season's ACC Championships and placed sixth at the NCAA Championships.
- The Cardinal men finished fourth at the ACC Championships and 15th at the NCAA Championships.
- At last year's dual, Xavier's women fell by a score of 189-69, while the Musketeer men fell by a score of 193-66.
LAST TIME OUT - WOMEN
- Xavier's women won nine of 11 events at the Butler Double dual, going 4-0 in head-to-head match-ups.
- Xavier took the top two spots in the 400 medley relay, with Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster setting a time of 3:50.19 to place first.
- Teegan Madara won the first of two distance free events in the 1000 free, taking the top spot with a time of 10:34.58. Abby Bocian placed third with a time of 10:54.54.
- Olivia Oyster took the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.59.
- Alexis Worrall used a time of 24.88 to win the 50 free
- Ally Zaleski led Xavier in the 400 IM with a time of 4:43.40.
- Xavier took the top two spots in the 200 fly, with Norah Simich winning with a time of 2:03.51. Erin Ritz placed second.
- Olivia Oyster took first in the 100 free with a time of 50.94. Alexis Worrall placed second.
- Maggie O'Toole led Xavier and placed third in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.83.
- Teegan Madara set a time of 5:12.64 in the 500 free to take first. Charlie Ramey place second.
- Jordyn Libler won the 200 breast with a time of 2:21.61.
- The Musketeers closed out the meet with another first place finish, with Alexis Worrall, Mary Sweetman, Molly Dynda and Olivia Oyster setting a time of 3:33.90 in the 400 free relay .
- The Musketeer women topped Saint Louis (151-80), Evansville (167-71), Butler (147.50-57.50) and Bellarmine (145-60).
LAST TIME OUT - MEN
- Xavier's men won four of 11 racing events, placing second with a 2-1 head-to-head record at the Butler Double Dual.
- Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson set a time of 3:26.07 to win the 400 medley relay
- Ryan Knipp won the 1000 free with a time of 9:48.19. Ethan Leamer placed second.
- Kyle Hudson led Xavier in the 100 free, placing second with a time of 47.39, and led the Musekt200 free with a time of 1:44.84, placing third.Â
- Max Ward led Xavier in the 50 free, setting a time of 21.77 to place third.
- Nathan Wall won the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.68.
- Aiden Leamer won the 200 fly, setting a time of 1:50.68. Caleb Petrancuk placed third.
- Nate Finnegan placed third in the 200 back, setting time of 1:55.96.
- Luke Peterson placed third in the 500 free with a time of 4:47.94.
- Brayden Mandacina sest a time of 2:09.49 in the 200 breast to place third.
- Kyle Hudson, CJ Sorensen, Gage Hannewyk and Ethan Saunders closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 400 free relay, setting a time of 3:09.76.
- The Musketeer men took wins over Bellarmine (149-65) and Evansville (141-78), while falling narrowly to Saint Louis (115-108).
XAVIER MEN
- Eight of the 10 Musketeers earned All-BIG EAST last season return for Xavier.Â
- Ethan Saunders earned the honor in six events to lead the Musketeers.
- Returner Aiden Leamer also earned all-conference in multiple events and set an NCAA B-Cut time in the 200 fly.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Matthew Adanin, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Ryan Knipp, Luke Peterson and Nathan Wall also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier collected 10 gold medals at last season's BIG EAST Championships including going 5-for-5 on first place finishes in relays, finishing runners-up in the team standings.
XAVIER WOMEN
- Xavier returns six of the nine Musketeers that earned All-BIG EAST last season. Olivia Oyster led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in five events in 2023-24, including posting an NCAA B-Cut time in the 50 free.
- Jordyn Libler and Erin Ritz each earned All-BIG EAST and each set a pair of NCAA B-Cut times at the event as well.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Norah Simich, Reese Turner, Alexis Worrall also return this season.
- At last year's BIG EAST Championships, the Musketeer women collected a program-best five gold medals and set new program records nine events on the way to a fourth-place finish.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier heads to the Akron Zips Invite next weekend, running from Friday, Oct. 11, through Saturday, Oct. 12.
- The multi-team meet starts on Friday evening at 5 PM and continues on Saturday morning, at 10 AM, returning to the pool for an afternoon session on Saturday at 5 PM.
- Xavier men's swimming took first place, and the women finished third at last year's meet.
- Jordyn Libler set a then-school record time in the 100 breast at 1:02.65 at last year's event.
BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS SCHEDULE UPDATE
- The 2025 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships have been moved up to start on Monday, February 24, 2025Â and run through Thursday, February 27.
- The championship meet will be held at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, for the first time since 2021.
