Men's Basketball Rolls To 98-74 Exhibition Game Win At Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio --- The Xavier Musketeers opened the 2024-25 season with a 98-74 win over the Dayton Flyers on Sunday in a charity exhibition game in front of a sold-out crowd of 13,407 at UD Arena.

Xavier placed seven players in double figures in scoring led by Zach Freemantle with 17 points and Marcus Foster with 15. The Musketeers hit a combined 12 3-pointers from seven different shooters for the game.

Xavier controlled the first half and took a 46-28 halftime lead. Dayton got no closer than 14 points in the second half.

CareSource and UD hosted the game, which is one of the community engagement events championing adolescent and young adult mental health and suicide prevention. All net proceeds from ticket sales for the NCAA waiver-approved charity game benefited the Jay's Light, the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and other charities within the Dayton and Cincinnati footprint.Â
