Women's Tennis Heads to Northeast to Face UConn, Boston College

Musketeers face Huskies on Saturday at 3 PM, Eagles on Sunday 10 AM
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis heads out on the road for a pair of matches, playing at UConn on Saturday, February 10 at 12 p.m., then facing Boston College on Sunday, February 11 at 10:00 a.m.
The Musketeers are 3-2 after taking a 5-2 win over Indiana last Sunday at Eastern Hills.

OPPONENT INFO - UCONN
- The Huskies are 4-1 with wins over Merrimack, Fairfield, St. Bonaventure and Quinnipiac and the lone loss coming against Army.
- UConn went 11-10 overall and 3-4 in BIG EAST matches last season. The Huskies took a 4-0 win over Seton Hall in the first round of the BIG EAST Championship before falling to Creighton, 4-2, in the Quarterfinals.
- Xavier is 1-0 against the Huskies after taking a 6-1 win over UConn last season.
OPPONENT INFO - BOSTON COLLEGE
- The Eagles are 2-1 with wins over Brown and UMass, and a loss against Harvard. BC will face Boston on Friday.
- BC went 11-11 last season with a 4-9 record in ACC Play. The Eagles fell, 4-3, to Louisville in the First Round of the ACC Tournament.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs.

- Next weekend, Xavier will travel south to face EKU in Richmond, Ky. on Friday, February 16 at 6:00 p.m.
- The Musketeers then head north to East Lansing, Mich., facing Michigan State on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier topped Indiana, 5-2, on Sunday at Eastern Hills, marking the third-straight season Xavier has picked up a win over an opponent from a Power 5 conference.
- Emily Flowers and Sofia Mazzucato combined for the first doubles decision, taking a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court. Imani Graham and Anna Roggenburk won the No. 1 court for a third-straight match, 6-4, clinching the point for the Musketeers. Abby Nugent and Ellie Brotherton were tied 5-5 on No. 2 when the point was decided.
- Roggenburk made it a 2-0 Xavier lead with a win in the No. 2 spot, 6-4, 6-0, and Graham made it 3-0 Xavier after winning the No. 1 court, 6-4, 6-4.
- The Hoosiers picked up a point on the No. 3 court, topping Abby Nugent 7-6 (5), 6-2, and cut Xavier's lead to 3-2 with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 win on the No. 4 court against Abigail Siminski.
- On the No. 5 court, Sofia Mazzucato tied in the third set, 6-7 (4), 7-5, 2-2, when she won by default to clinch the match for the Musketeers.
- On the final court, Emily Flowers, playing in the No. 6 spot, battled back from falling in tiebreakers in the first set to take the point, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-0, to set the final score at 5-2 in favor of the Musketeers.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six from last year's squad that brought home the program's third-straight, and fourth overall, BIG EAST Championship and earned Xavier's fourth bid to the NCAA Championships.
- The 2022-23 Musketeers finished the season 14-8 overall with a 6-0 record against BIG EAST opponents.
- Among Xavier's returnees are 2023 BIG EAST Player of the Year, Imani Graham, and BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, Abby Nugent.
- Anna Roggenburk, Blessing Nwaozuzu, Emily Flowers and Abigail Siminski also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a pair of freshmen, Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato.
- The Musketeers also added Elizabeth Pendergast, a transfer from Cincinnati, who joined the program in the 2024 spring semester.
