Musketeers face Bulldogs on Saturday at 1 PM at Furman, Paladins on Sunday at 10 AM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis is on the road to Greenville, S.C. for a pair of matches, facing Gardner-Webb on Saturday Feb. 10, set for a 1 p.m. start at Furman, then facing the Paladins on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 10 p.m.
The Musketeers are 1-5 after falling to Cleveland State last weekend.

OPPONENT INFO - GARDNER-WEBB
- Gardner-Webb is 5-0 with wins over Davidson, Queens (N.C.), Wingate and a pair of wins over Belmont Abbey.
- The Bulldogs went 16-7 overall last season and 4-1 in Big South play. GWU took a 4-1 win over Radford in the Big South Semifinals and finished runners up after falling to Presbyterian in the Championship match.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs.
OPPONENT INFO - FURMAN
- Furman is 5-4 with wins over Queens (N.C), Bellarmine, North Greenville, Army and Boston College.
- The Paladins went 11-14 overall last season with a 4-3 record in SoCon play. Furman took a 4-1 win over Samford in the SoCon Championship Quarterfinals then fell to Chattanooga in the Semis.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier picked fell 4-3 against Cleveland State at Eastern Hills on Saturday evening.
- In doubles play, Xavier picked up a 7-5 win on the No. 1 court for Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger, but Kyle Totorica and Jorge Santamaria fell 7-5 on the No. 3 court. Xavier took the point with a 7-6 (9) win for Charlie Temming and Cristian Gonzalez on the No. 2 court.
- In singles, Xavier picked up wins on the No. 1 court, 6-2, 6-3 for Ryan Cahill, and on the No. 6 court, 6-3, 6-3, for Cristian Gonzalez.
- CSU took wins on the No. 2 court against Pascal Mosberger (6-4, 6-4), the No. 3 court against Charlie Temming (4-6, 6-3, 6-4), the No. 4 court against Marco Pennelli (6-4, 6-3), and the No. 5 court against Kyle Totorica (7-5, 7-5) to set the final score at 4-3 in favor of the Vikings.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Next weekend, Xavier travels to Youngstown, Ohio, for a pair of matches, playing Northern Illinois on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10:00 a.m., and then playing Youngstown State on Sunday, Feb. 18 at 11:00 a.m.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letterwinners from last year's squad that finished the season at 12-9 overall.
- The 2022-23 season marked a second-straight season with 12 wins, the first time the program had back-to-back 10-plus win season since the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
- The Musketeer returners include Ryan Cahill, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Jorge Santamaria, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Adamec and Cristian Gonzalez.
