CINCINNATI - Xavier men's golf continues its spring season at the Wright State Invitational on April 14-15. The two-day tournament is being held at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, Ohio.

LAST TIME OUT - April 7

• Justin Gabbard led a group of four individuals at Northern Kentucky's The Jewell on April 7, placing 10th with a 54-hole score of 214 (+1). The two-day tournament was held at Elks Run Golf Club.

• Gabbard now has two career top-10 finishes. He placed fifth at the same tournament in 2022.

• Wright State's Mikkel Mathiesen took home medalist honors with a score of 205 (-8). Evan DiSanto from Miami (Ohio) placed second with a score of 207 (-6).

LAST TIME OUT - April 3

• Xavier placed 12th at the Golfweek/AGT Intercollegiate on April 3. The three-day tournament was held at True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C.

• The Musketeers posted a 36-hole score of 582 (+6). Richmond won the tournament with a score of 570 (-6), one stroke ahead of Long Island and Valparaiso who both posted scores of 571 (-5). The field consisted of 19 teams.

• Individually, Zach Burton placed 14th to pace the Musketeers with a 36-hole score of 142 (-2). The field consisted of 100 golfers.

BIG EAST GOLFER OF THE WEEK

• AJ Adams was named the BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week on Nov. 1. The freshman golfer earned the honors for the first time in his career.

• The Dallas, Texas, native is the first Musketeer to earn the honors since Imaad Qureshi on Oct. 21, 2021.

NOTABLES

• The Musketeers have had five players post top-five finishes in five of their last eight tournaments. Carson Bellish placed second at the JT Poston Invitational on Sept. 26, Oscar Zimmerman placed third at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Oct. 3, AJ Adams won the Xavier Invitational presented by Gateway Logistics on Oct. 17, Ray Filter placed tied for fourth at the Peoples Golf Championship on March 9 and Zach Burton placed tied for third at the Ross Collegiate Classic on March 12.

• Xavier returns four of its top five performers from the 2023 BIG EAST Championships. The Musketeers also welcome four newcomers to the program: AJ Adams (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas), Ray Filter (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point HS), A.J. Wilhelm (Mason, Ohio/Mason HS) and Oscar Zimmerman (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier HS/Santa Clara).

• Sophomore Carson Bellish finished eighth with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2) at the 2023 BIG EAST Championships - the highest finish by a Musketeer at the conference championships since Garrett Wood took home medalist honors at the 2019 BIG EAST Championships. The eighth-place finish was the highest finish by a Xavier freshman since 2018 (Garrett Wood - tied for sixth).

• Carson Bellish had five top-15 finishes during the spring 2023 season, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Daytona Beach Spring Invitational on March 7. The finish was the highest individual finish for a Xavier golfer since Oct. 22, 2019 (Imaad Qureshi placed tied for third at the Musketeer Classic).

• Carson Bellish finished the 2023 campaign ranked 22nd in the final BIG EAST GolfStat Rankings, the third highest finish by a freshman with an average score of 74.07.

• Brian Arlinghaus enters year three at the helm of the program after being hired on June 18, 2021. He joined the Musketeers after serving as the head men's golf coach at Wright State from 2017-21. He was an assistant coach with the Raiders for two seasons (2015-17) before being promoted to head coach.

2024 SIGNING CLASS

• Head coach Brian Arlinghaus announced the signing of three players to the 2024-25 roster on Nov. 13.
