Musketeers head to ITA Regional at MTSU, starting Oct. 10

DAYTON, Ohio - Xavier women's tennis picked up nine wins in a single day of action at Dayton's Flyer Invitational, which was shortened due to inclement weather.

Played at the South Regency Tennis Center due to weather, Xavier opened up action with singles against Dayton, taking three of the five matches, then took the four-match sweep in singles against Miami (Ohio).

Abby Nugent picked up the first of two singles wins for the day in with a three-set win over Neena Katauskas of Dayton, 1-6, 6-2, 1-0. She then took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Emilia Valentinsson of Miami (Ohio).

Madeleine Rexroat also went 2-0 in singles action, taking a 6-2, 7-5 win over Dayton's Laura Greb, and a 6-0, 6-2 win over the RedHawks' Malu Oliveira.

Clara Owen also finished with a pair of singles wins, taking a 6-0, 6-3 win over UD's Montserrat Sierra, and a 7-5, 6-1 win over Lovisa Valentinsson of Miami.

Abigail Siminski picked up a singles win over Miami (Ohio), topping Lauren Joyce in three sets, 1-6, 6-2, 1-0.

The Musketeers won both matches in the lone round of doubles they competed in, against NKU, with Clara Owen and Abby Nugent combining to defeat Ashlee Fisk and Alyssa Cameron, 6-2, while Ellie Brotherton and Abigail Siminski took a 6-1 win over Catharina Cardoso and Didi Steenhuis.

The Musketeers will next be in action when they head to Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Oct. 10-14 to take part in the ITA Regionals, hosted by MTSU.
