Musketeers collect 18 wins over the weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Xavier women's tennis combined to win 18 matches at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional at the University of Tennessee Knoxville's Goodfriend Tennis Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

Ella DeFord collected three singles wins, taking a 6-3, 6-1 win over Maria Luisa Oliveia of Miami (Ohio) in the opening round of the singles qualifying bracket, and then topping Kentucky's Elena Molla Pons, 7-5, 7-6 (3) to earn a spot in the main draw. In the main singles draw, DeFord advanced to the round of 32 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Louisville's Lika Persypkina, before falling to UK's Zoe Hammond, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (5).

Emily Flowers earned a spot in the singles main draw, advancing to the round of 32 with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over of Louisville's Germany Davis. She fell, 6-2, 6-2, to UC's Gabrielle Guenther in the second round.

Playing in the main draw, Abby Nugent fell in the opening round, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, to Miami (Ohio)'s Allie Faulkner, then picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Yontha Tadoum of SEMO in the consolation bracket,

Abigail Siminski earned a spot in the singles main draw, falling, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4, to Purdue's Kathryn Wilson, before picking up a 6-0, 2-6, 13-11 win over Chase Metcalf of Butler in the consolation bracket.

Playing in the main draw, Madeleine Rexroat fell to ETSU's Julia Millan, 6-4, 6-3, before picking up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ida Clement of Purdue in the consolation bracket.

In the singles qualifying bracket, Natalie Smitek picked up an opening round win over Niyati Kukreti of ETSU, 6-2, 7-6 (11), and a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 win over Ashlie Wilson of Purdue to earn a spot in the main bracket.

Sofia Mazzucato picked up a win via injury walkover in the consolation bracket of the qualifying singles, and topped Rylie Wilkison of Southern Indiana, 6-4, 6-3.

Clara Owen picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Chattanooga's Emma Pedretti in the qualifying bracket round of 64.

In doubles play, the No. 40 ranked duo of Abby Nugent and Clara Owen earned a bye to the round of 32, where they advanced to the round of 16 with an injury walkover. The pair picked up an 8-4 win over Ashlie Wilson and Ece Gencer of Purdue to move on to the quarterfinals, falling to the No. 17 ranked duo of Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso of Tennessee.

Madeleine Rexroat and Ella DeFord took an 8-6 win over Louisville's Germany Davis and Berta Miret in the round of 64 doubles, then advanced to the round of 16 with an 8-3 win over Purdue's Sophya Devas and Ida Clement before falling to Tennessee's Francesca Mattioli and Maeve Thornton, 8-6.

Natalie Smitek and Emily Flowers advanced to the round of 32 with an injury withdraw from EKU's Mariia Triska and Zhansaya Bakytzhan, before falling, 8-7 (5) to Purdue's Kathryn Wilson and Emmi Kolyszko.

Ellie Brotherton and Abigail Siminski opened up play in the round of 64 against Chattanooga's Rufaro Magarira and Addison Iacono, falling 8-3.

Xavier returns to action at the Michigan State Invite, running from Friday, Oct. 31, through Sunday, Nov. 2 in East Lansing, Mich.
