The freshman midfielder scored his first career goal on Friday night

MILWAUKEE - Xavier men's soccer picked up its first conference win of the season on Friday night, posting a 1-0 shutout at Marquette at Valley Fields.

The Musketeers improve to 4-3-2 (1-1-1 BIG EAST), while the Golden Eagles drop to 4-3-2 (0-3-0 BIG EAST). Following results around the BIG EAST on Friday night, the Musketeers moved into second place in the Midwest Division Standings.

NOTABLES

Freshman Ryan D'urso scored his first career goal vs the Golden Eagles. The assist by Cannon Scretchen was his first of the season and the second of his career.
Marquette held a 12-6 advantage in shots. Both teams took three shots on goal.
The Golden Eagles committed three more fouls (15-12) than the Musketeers and took five more corner kicks (9-4). Both teams were called offsides once.
Ryan D'urso and Gun Ha Lee paced the Musketeers with two shots each. Jabari De Coteau and Cristiano Fitzgerald both added one shot.
Eight different Musketeers have now scored a goal this season. Ten different players have also recorded an assist.

Jonny Mennell (2-2-1) made three saves and posted his second shutout of the season. The goalkeeper made his first start since Sept. 10. He missed the team's previous four matches due to injury.

Jonny Mennell is one shutout away from tying Justin Marshall (2009-12) for the most shutouts in school history.
Xavier has now won three straight road games at Marquette, moving to 4-5 all-time vs the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee.
John Higgins has posted a 26-16-20 (9-8-12 BIG EAST) record in four seasons at Xavier. His teams have posted 27 shutouts in 62 matches.
