Men's Tennis Travels to Cleveland to face Cleveland State and Ball State

Musketeers face Vikings at 6 PM on Friday, Cardinals at 2 PM on Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis travels to Cleveland for a pair of matches this weekend, starting with Cleveland State on Friday, February 14, set for a 6:00 p.m. start. The Musketeers remain at Cleveland State to face Ball State on Saturday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m.

CLEVELAND STATE
- The Vikings are 0-5 on the season, having faced Indiana, Butler, Purdue, Notre Dame and Dayton.
- CSU went 21-7 last season, with an 8-0 mark in Horizon League play. The Vikings won the Horizon League Championship title to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship where CSU fell to Ohio State.
- Xavier and Cleveland State faced each other last season, with CSU taking the 4-3 win.
BALL STATE
- Ball State is 4-2 on the season after falling to No. 25 Michigan and Indiana in the first two matches of the season, the winning four straight wins, over Illinois State, Dayton, Eastern Illinois and Butler.
- Last season the Cardinals went 12-10 on overall with a 6-4 record in MAC play.
- The two teams faced fof last sesaon, with BSU taking the 5-2 win in Cincinnati.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier returns to Cincinnati for three matches next weekend, starting with Northern Kentucky on Friday, February 21, set for a 2:00 p.m. start at Eastern Hills.
- The Musketeers will then head to Five Seasons Sports Club Ohio to host Drake on Saturday, February 22, starting at 3:00 p.m.
- Xavier returns to Eastern Hills to host Bellarmine on Sunday, February 23, set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier men's tennis fell, 4-3, to UIC last Friday afternoon at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
- In doubles play, UIC picked up a 6-3 win on the No. 1 court, against Pascal Mosberger and Alex Kotarski, and a 7-5 win on the No. 2 court, against Charlie Temming and Ryan Cahill, to secure the point.
- The Flames made it a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Christian Gonzalez on the No. 2 court and extended it to a 3-0 advantage with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Charlie Temming on the No. 3 court.
- The Musketeers picked up back-to-back decisions, with Marco Pennelli taking the No. 5 court, 6-1, 6-4, and Andrew Spurck winning on court No. 6, 6-1, 6-3, to pull the Musketeers within one at 3-2.
- UIC clinched the win on the No. 1 court, taking a 6-4, 6-4 win against Ryan Cahill to pick up a fourth point.
- On the final court, Alex Kotarski came back after falling in the first set to take a 4-6, 6-2 6-2 win on No. 4, setting the final score at 4-3 in favor of UIC.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letter-winners from last year's squad, including All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill.
- The Musketeer also return Christian Gonzalez, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
