Men's Tennis Set for a Pair of Matches in Cincinnati this Weekend

Musketeers host NKU at Eastern Hills on Friday, Drake at Five Seasons on Saturday
CINCINNATIÂ -Â Xavier men's tennis remains in Cincinnati for a pair of matches this weekend, hosting Northern Kentucky on Friday, February 21, set for a 2:00 p.m. start at Eastern Hills. Xavier then travels to Five Seasons Ohio to host Drake on Saturday, February 22, set for a 3:00 p.m.

NKU
- The Norse are 0-4 on the season, falling to No. 7 Kentucky, EKU, Southern Indiana and Dayton.
- Last season NKU went 12-8 with a 6-2 record in Horizon League play.
- Xavier is 16-0 against Northern Kentucky going back to 2006, and picked up a 4-3 win last season in Highland Heights, Ky.
DRAKE
- Drake is 3-6 on the season with wins over Saint Louis, Grand View and Marquette. The Bulldogs have fallen to Nebraska, Wichita State, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Creighton and Indiana.
- The Bulldogs went 11-9 last season, with a 3-2 mark against Summit league opponents.
- This is the first match-up between the two programs.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier remains in Cincinnati next weekend for a pair of matches, starting with Bellarmine, set for Thursday, February 27 at Camargo Racquet Club, set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
- The Musketeers will also host Omaha on Saturday, March 1, at Eastern Hills.Â
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier men's tennis wrapped up last weekend's trip to Cleveland by taking a 4-3 win over Ball State at CSU.
- In doubles play, Ball State picked up the first decision, taking a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court against Charlie Temming and Ryan Cahill. Kyle Totorica and Christian Gonzalez combined to take a 6-2 win on the No. 3 court and a 6-4 win for Andrew Spurck and Alex Kotarski on the No. 2 court clinched the point for the Musketeers.
- BSU picked up three decisions, taking the No. 1 court, 6-3, 6-1, over Ryan Cahill, a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Charlie Temming on the No. 2 court and a 6-4, 6-3 win over Alex Kotarski on the No. 3 court.
- Andrew Spurck and Kyle Totorica both picked up two-set wins, with Spurck winning, 6-1, 6-4, on the No. 5 court and Totorica taking No. 6, 6-1, 6-1.
- Christian Gonzalez battled to a three-set win on No. 4, 7-6 (9), 5-7, 6-4, to set the score at 4-3 in favor of Xavier.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns six letter-winners from last year's squad, including All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill.
- The Musketeer also return Christian Gonzalez, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen, Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
