Men's Tennis Looks to Extend Win Streak at Jacksonville State

Musketeers take on Gamecocks at 2:00 p.m. ET on Saturday
CINCINNATIÂ -Â Xavier men's tennis heads out on the road this weekend, traveling to Alabama to take on Jacksonville State on Saturday, March 8, set for a 2:00 p.m. ET start.
The Musketeers are 7-6 on the season and enter the weekend on a five-match win streak.

JACKSONVILLE STATE
- The Gamecocks are 5-5 on the season, with wins over Alabama A&M, EKU, South Alabama, UNC Asheville and Tennessee State.
- Last season, Jax State finished 15-10, falling to Liberty in the Conference USA Semifinals.
- This is the first time the two programs have met.
WEEKLY AWARDS
- After going 2-0 in the No. 2 doubles spot over the weekend, helping Xavier to a pair of wins, Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
- Kotarski, a freshman from Hinsdale, Ill., and Spurck, a freshman from Palatine, Ill., combined to take a 6-3 win against Bellarmine on Thursday, clinching the doubles point for Xavier on the way to a 4-3 win.
- The pair picked up the first doubles decision for Xavier against Omaha on Saturday, a 6-3 win to help Xavier take the doubles point and pick up the 5-2 win over the Mavericks, marking Xavier's fifth-straight win. The duo has now won four straight, all in the No. 2 spot.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- The Musketeers are back in action on Sunday, March 16, hosting Dayton, set to take place at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility on Xavier's campus.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier men's tennis won its fifth straight match, topping Omaha, 5-2, at Camargo Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon.
- Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck combined for a 6-3 win on the No. 2 court for the first decision, the pair's fourth-straight win. Omaha picked up a decision on the No. 1 court, 7-5, against Ryan Cahill and Pascal Mosberger. Christian Gonzalez and Kyle Totorica won their eighth-straight doubles match on court No. 3 to clinch the point for the Musketeers.
- Kyle Totorica made it 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win on the No. 5 court. Omaha took a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 decision on the No. 1 court against Ryan Cahill to cut Xavier's lead to 2-1. Alex Kotarski picked up a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win on the No. 4 court, his team-high eighth singles win of the season to make it a 3-1 lead.
- Charlie Temming clinched the win for the Musketeers with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) win on the No. 3 court.
- Marco Pennelli took a 7-6 (7), 6-4 win on the No. 6 court to pick up a fifth point for the Musketeers. Omaha set the final score at 5-2 with a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-2 win on the No. 2 court against Christian Gonzalez.

- Xavier returns six letter-winners from last year's squad, including All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Ryan Cahill.
- The Musketeer also return Christian Gonzalez, Pascal Mosberger, Marco Pennelli, Charlie Temming and Kyle Totorica.
