Musketeers and Red Storm wrap up series on Sunday at noon

QUEENS, N.Y. - Xavier baseball fell in game two at St. John's, 8-6, at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Musketeers moved to 19-17 overall and 5-3 in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm secured the series win with one game remaining.

The Musketeers got on the board early, with walks from Carter Hendrickson and Connor Misch put two runners on with one out in the first. After Clay Burdette reached on a fielder's choice, Aedan Anderson singled to center field to bring in the first run, with Misch scoring. Nolan Tucker followed that with a double to bring in Burdette and make it a 2-0 Xavier lead.

The Red Storm picked up a run in the bottom of the first and added a pair in the second to move in front, 3-2, taking the lead into the fifth.

Xavier put together another two-run frame in the fifth, with a lead-off walk from Jason Jelic and singles from Jake Lambdin and Hendrickson loading the bases with one out. Misch singled through the right side to bring in Jelic and Lambdin, putting the Musketeers back in front, 4-3.

St. John's used a three-run sixth inning to retake the lead, but the Musketeers responded in the next frame, starting the top of the seventh with a single from Eddie Peters and a walk for Lambdin. Misch got on with a walk to load the bases, and Aedan Anderson hit a single through the left side to bring in Peters and Lambdin, tying the game at 6-6.

The Red Storm moved back in front in the bottom of the frame, scoring a pair of runs to set the final score at 8-6.

The Musketeers and Red Storm wrap up the series on Sunday, April 13, scheduled for a 12 p.m. first pitch on ESPN+.
