Musketeers Fall in Series Finale at St. John's

Xavier travels to Cincinnati on Tuesday
QUEENS, N.Y. - Xavier baseball fell in the series finale against St. John's, 13-4, at Jack Kaiser Stadium on Sunday. The Musketeers moved to 19-18 overall and 5-4 in BIG EAST play.Â
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the first, with Jake Lambdin leading off with a walk and moving to second after a single from Carter Hendrickson. Aedan Anderson loaded the bases with a single, and Clay Burdette was hit by a pitch to bring in a run.
St. John's tied it up in the bottom of the first with a run, but Xavier moved back in front in the second after Jake Lambdin was hit by a pitch and Carter Hendrickson homered to bring two runs, giving the Musketeers the 3-1 lead.
The Red Storm scored four runs in both the second and third innings, taking a 9-3 lead to the fourth. Xavier picked up another run after Jason Jelic led off with a triple and came home on a ground ball from Eddie Peters to cut the lead to 9-4.
St. John's added two runs in both the fifth and the eighth to set the final score at 13-4.
The Musketeers travel across town to face Cincinnati on Tuesday, April 15 at 6 p.m.
