Musketeers advance to face No. 3 seed St. John's on Saturday at 9 AM

CAYCE, S.C. - No. 2 seed Xavier women's tennis picked up a 4-0 win over No. 7 seed Georgetown in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center on Friday morning.

The Musketeers have advanced to 11-straight BIG EAST Semifinals, playing in the semis each year Xavier has been in the conference and the tennis championship was held.

Xavier advances to the BIG EAST Semifinals where the Musketeers will face No. 3 seed St. John's. The Red Storm are 14-6 on the season, and advanced to the semifinals with a 5-0 win over No. 6 seed Butler. The two teams last faced each other in the 2023 BIG EAST Semifinals, with Xavier taking a 4-1 win.

The Match

In doubles, Abby Nugent and Clara Owen picked up the first decision with a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court, the pair's seventh-straight win and 15th of the dual season.

Emily Flowers and Natalie Smitek clinched the point with a 6-4 win on the No. 3 doubles court, moving the duo to 6-0 on the season.

Natalie Smitek took 6-4, 6-1 win on the No. 6 singles court to make it a 2-0 lead, moving her to 4-0 on the season in the No. 6 spot.

A 6-2, 6-2 win on the No. 2 court for Abby Nugent, her 13th win of the season, made it a 3-0 Xavier lead.

Emily Flowers took a 6-1, 7-5 win on the No. 4 court to clinch the match for the Musketeers. The win was her team-high 16th of the dual season and her 11th in a row.
