Musketeers face Pirates on Friday at 2 PM at Eastern Hills, travel to Butler on Sunday at 10 AM
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis returns home this weekend to host Seton Hall on Friday, April 4, set for a 2:00 p.m. start at Eastern Hills. The Musketeers will then travel to Indianapolis on Sunday, April 6, taking on the Butler Bulldogs at 10:00 a.m. at the Indianapolis Racquet Club.

SETON HALL
- The Pirates are 11-8 on the season with a 1-4 mark in BIG EAST matches, topping Providence and falling to UConn, Georgetown, Villanova and St. John's.
- Last season, Seton Hall finished 8-12 overall with a 1-6 mark in conference play, falling to Villanova in the BIG EAST Tournament First Round.
- Xavier last faced Seton Hall during the 2018-19 season, taking a 4-3 win over the Pirates in Orlando, Fla.
BUTLER
- The Bulldogs are 5-11 entering the weekend, with a 2-2 record in conference play, picking up wins over Georgetown and Providence, but falling to DePaul and UConn. Butler will face Seton Hall on Saturday.
- Butler went 12-11 last year, with a 1-5 mark in BIG EAST play, falling to Marquette in the BIG EAST Tournament First Round.
- The Musketeers have won the last 12 match-ups, going back to the 2011-12 season, taking a 7-0 win in Cincinnati last season.
WEEKLY AWARDS
- The No. 41 ranked doubles pair of Clara Owen and Abby Nugent were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, following a 2-0 weekend for the Musketeers.
- In Xavier's 7-0 win at Dayton, the pair picked up the first decision, a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court, to help the Musketeers take the doubles point. In Xavier's 6-1 win over DePaul, the duo picked up a 6-2 win over the No. 54 pair of Eva Goncharov and Hannah Smith to clinch the doubles point.
- This is the pair's second weekly award of the season, also earning Double Team of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 27.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier returns home to host Marquette on Friday, April 11. The Musketeers will celebrate Senior Day following the match.
LAST TIME OUT
- Xavier picked up a second BIG EAST victory for the season on Saturday afternoon, taking a 6-1 win over the DePaul Blue Demons at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility.
- In doubles, Emily Flowers and Natalie Smitek combined for a 6-1 win on the No. 1 court in the first decision, then the No. 37 ranked duo of Abby Nugent and Clara Owen picked up a 6-2 win over the No. 54 pair of Eva Goncharov and Hannah Smith to clinch the point.
- Emily Flowers made it a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win on the No. 4 court, her team high 12th win of the season and seventh in a row. Elizabeth Pendergast came back to take a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win on the No. 1 court to make it a 3-0 lead.
- Abby Nugent picked up a 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 win on the No. 2 court to seal the win at 4-0.
- Abigail Siminski took a 6-0, 7-6 (5) win on the No. 5 court and Madeleine Rexroat won on No. 3, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, to make it a 6-0 Xavier lead.
- DePaul picked up the final decision, a 4-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Clara Owen on court No. 6.
THE MUSKETEERS
- The Musketeers are looking for their fifth-straight, and sixth overall, BIG EAST Championship, and look to make a return trip to the NCAA Championship.
- Xavier returned six student-athletes from last year's BIG EAST Championship roster including juniors Emily Flowers, Abby Nugent and Abigail Siminski as well as sophomores Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato and senior transfer Elizabeth Pendergast, who made her debut as a Musketeer this fall. Xavier also added a trio of freshmen to the roster, Clara Owen, Madeleine Rexroat and Natalie Smitek.
- Xavier wrapped up the fall schedule with Abby Nugent and Clara Owen becoming the first players in program history to compete in doubles at the NCAA Individual Championships. The pair earned the bid after advancing to the finals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships.
- Madeleine Rexroat also took part in the ITA Conference Masters Championships, representing the BIG EAST in singles. Elizabeth Pendergast and Emily Flowers competed at the ITA Sectional Championships as a doubles team, with Pendergast also playing in the singles draw.
