Baseball Takes 15-6 Win Over Cincinnati to Sweep Season Series

Lambdin, Hendrickson and Burdette homer as Musketeers move to 2-0 on the season against the Bearcats
Xavier took control of the game with an eight-run second inning. The Musketeers got hits from Aedan Anderson, Nolan Tucker, Clay Burdette and Isaac Wachsmann to bring in the first pair of runs, followed by Jake Lambdin's third home run of the season to make it a 5-0 Xavier lead. Carter Hendrickson, Connor Misch and Anderson all took walks to load the bases, with Hendrickson stealing home to make it a 6-0 lead and Misch scoring on a wild pitch to make it 7-0. After Tucker was hit by a pitch to load the bases again, Anderson stole home to cap off the scoring for the inning.
Cincinnati picked up runs in the fourth and fifth innings to get within six, 8-2, but the Musketeers responded with a six-run bottom of the fifth to take a 12-run lead. Burdette and Jason Jelic both got aboard with walks, with Burdette coming home on another RBI double from Wachsmann. A walk from Donavan Canterberry loaded the bases for Lambdin, who drove in a run with a single. Hendrickson capped off the scoring in the inning by clearing the bases with his first collegiate grand slam to put the Musketeers in front 14-2.
A two-run homer Cincinnati in the sixth cut the lead to 10, 14-4, and runs in the seventh and eighth cut the Xavier advantage back to eight. Burdette hits his team-high 10th home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth, a solo shot, to set the final score at 15-6 in favor of the Musketeers.
Xavier heads to Fairborn, Ohio, on Wednesday, April 23, to take on Wright State, set for a 3:00 p.m. start.

- Jake Lambdin finished 3-5 at the plate, finishing with a career-best four RBI, driving in three with his third home run of the season. Lambdin finished with two runs scored.
- Carter Hendrickson (1-4) hit his sixth home run of the season, a grand slam, to match his career-high with four RBI. He also got aboard with a walk, coming around to score to give him two runs scored.
- Isaac Wachsmann finished 2-4 with a walk, hitting a pair of RBI doubles, finishing with a pair of runs scored and a pair of runs batted in.
- Clay Burdette finished 2-4 with a walk, hitting his team-high 10th home run of the season. He finishe dwith three runs scored and two RBI.
- Aedan Anderson had a hit, a double and. walk, scoring two runs.
- Nolan Tucker finished 2-4 with a double, scoring a run.
- Connor Misch got aboard with a pair of walks, scoring a run. Jason Jelic also had two walks scoring a run. Donavan Canterberry had one base on balls, coming around to score.
- Joseph Chavana went a season-long 6.1 innings in the start, allowing five runs on eight hits. He finished with a season-high five strikeouts and just two walks, picking up his third win of the season.
- Nick Boyle entered with one out in the seventh, getting out of the inning with a pair of strikeouts. He allowed one run on two hits in 1.2 innings of work, striking out three and walking one.
- Jack DeTienne pitched the ninth, giving up just one walk and striking out a pair.
