Xavier Falls in Game Two at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - After rallying in the eighth, Xavier baseball fell in game two at Penn State, 7-6, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Friday evening. The Musketeers moved to 30-25 on the season.
The Musketeers struck first, taking a 2-0 lead in the second after Connor Misch and Clay Burdette led off the inning with back-to-back walks and both came home after Isaac Wachsmann singled and then advanced on an error.
Penn State scored a pair in the third to tie it at 2-2, and added two more runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
The Musketeers got a run back in the top of the sixth, with Misch leading off with a double to center field and scoring on a single from Aedan Anderson to cut Penn State's lead to 4-3.
Two more runs in the seventh stretched the PSU lead back to three, 6-3. Xavier responded with a three-run frame in the eighth, with singles from Misch, Burdette, Wachsmann and Anderson bringing in two runs before the Musketeers recorded an out, cutting the Nittany Lion's lead to one, 6-5. Wachsmann scored from third on a wild pitch to tie it at 6-6 going into the eighth.
A solo home run for the Nittany Lions in the bottom of the eighth set the final score at 7-6.
Game three of the series is set for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in University Park, Pa.
