Baseball Drops Game One of Weekend Series vs Pirates

Isaac Wachsmann hit two home runs on Friday afternoon at Hayden Field
The Musketeers moved to 27-21 (11-5 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 20-26 (6-7 BIG EAST).
The Pirates scored 10 or more runs for the 10th time this season and the second time in as many games. Seton Hall hit a season-high five home runs vs the Musketeers.
Seton Hall took a one-run lead in the first inning via a home run from lead-off hitter Aiden Robbins. The Pirates never trailed the game.
The game was tied 4-4 after four complete innings and tied 8-8 heading into the top of the ninth inning.
Trailing by three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, the Musketeers scored three runs on four hits to knot the game. Isaac Wachsmann hit his second home run of the game to score the first two runs before a Jake Lambdin RBI double down the left-field line scored the final run of the frame.
Seton Hall responded in the top of the ninth inning with a grand slam by Kevin Milewski to regain the lead.
Xavier had two more hits (11-9) than Seton Hall and committed one more error (3-2). The Musketeers also left four more runners on base (7-3).
The game had two weather delays. The game was paused due to lightning in the top of the fifth inning for 41 minutes and again for 43 minutes in the top of the seventh inning.

- Isaac Wachsmann was 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, three RBI and two runs. He now has 10 multi-hit games this season to go along with a team-leading 12 multi-RBI games and a team-leading 12 home runs.
- Clay Burdette was 2-for-5 with a run and a stolen base. He now has 12 multi-hit games this season.
- Nolan Tucker went 2-for-5 with a RBI. He now has 13 multi-hit games, ranking tied for second on the team.
- Carter Hendrickson went 1-for-3 with two runs, a double and a stolen base. Jake Lambdin was 1-for-4 with a run, a double and two stolen bases.
- Xavier matches its season high in stole bases with five (also had five stolen bases vs Cincinnati on April 22).
- Xavier now has 21 games with 10 or more hits, including four straight games with double-figure hits.
- Logan Schmidt made his seventh start of the season, throwing six strikeouts and allowing five hits and five runs in 5.0 innings of work. The RHP matched his career high in strikeouts with six (he now has five games with six strikeouts, including three straight). He now has 48 strikeouts on the year, ranking second on the team.
- Luke Hoskins threw 3.0 innings of relief, allowing three runs (one earned) and two hits. The RHP threw two strikeout and walked one batter.
- Jake Hooker (3-6) took the loss, allowing four runs on two hits in one inning of work. The RHP walked three batters and threw one strikeout.
