MASON, Ohio - Xavier baseball rallied late, scoring six runs after the seventh inning, to force extra innings and take an 11-8 win over No. 2 seed UConn in the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament, advancing to face No. 1 seed Creighton in the winner's bracket.

The Huskies brought in three runs each of the first two innings to take a 6-0 lead after two. Jake Lambdin led off the third with a solo home run to get the Musketeers on the board. A walk from Nolan Tucker and a single from Carter Hendrickson put two on for Connor Misch, who drove in both runners with a double. Isaac Wachsmann got on with a double, moving Misch to third with just one out, with Misch coming home on a fielder's choice from Aedan Anderson to cap off the four-run inning.

In the bottom of the third, UConn picked up another run to stretch the lead back to three and made it an 8-4 lead with a run in the fourth.

In the fifth, Misch led off with a single, moved to second on a single from Wachsmann and came home on a single from Donavan Canterberry to cut it to 8-5, and solo home run from Luke Hammond in the eighth cut it to 8-6.

In the ninth, Misch was hit by a pitch and Clay Burdette hit a single to put two runners on with no outs. Both moved into scoring position on a ground ball then scored on a single from Hayden Christiansen to tie the game at 8-8 and force extra innings.

In the 10th inning, Jake Lambdin led off with a double and came home on a single from Connor Misch to put the Musketeers in front. A home run from Clay Burdette added two more runs to make it an 11-8 Xavier lead.

Xavier's pitching staff did not allow a run after the fourth inning, giving up just one hit in the final six frames, helping seal the comeback win.

The Musketeers and the Bluejays will now face each other in the winner's bracket of the BIG EAST Tournament, set to get underway at 6:30 p.m. at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio. Creighton advanced with a 10-8 win over St. John's in the first game of the day on Wednesday.

AT THE PLATE

Connor Misch finished 3-5 at the plate, driving in three RBI and scoring four runs.
Clay Burdette (2-6) drove in two RBI with his team-high matching 12th home run of the year. He also scored a pair of runs.
Luke Hammond finished with a hit and a walk after hitting his second home run of the season, a solo shot, to finish with an RBI and a run scored.
Jake Lambdin recorded a pair of hits, including his fourth home run of the season, driving in an RBI and scoring a pair of runs.
Pinch hitting, Hayden Christiansen hit an two-RBI single to tie the game in the ninth.
Aedan Anderson (1-2) drove in an RBI.
Donavan Canterberry drove in a RBI with a single in his lone at-bat of the game.
Nolan Tucker and Carter Hendrickson each recorded a hit, got on with two walks, and scored a run.
Isaac Wachsmann went 4-6 at the plate on a 17-hit day for the Musketeers, matching Xavier's season high.

Ben Weber made the start, going 3.2 innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned, on six hits and three walks, striking out four.
Joseph Chavana entered with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth, getting the Musketeers out of the inning with a strikeout. He went 1.1 innings, not allowing a run or a hit, walking two and striking out three.
Luke Hoskins entered for the sixth and went 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit, walking three and striking out four.
Jake Hooker entered with a runner on third and two outs in the ninth, pitching the final 1.1 innings. Hooker did not allow a hit or a run, finishing with two strikeouts without issuing a walk. he picked up the win, his fourth of the season.
