Women's Tennis Travels to Kentucky, Hosts NKU this Weekend

Musketeers face Wildcats on Saturday in Lexington, host Norse on Sunday at Lindner Family Tennis Center
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis is set for a pair of matches this weekend, starting with a road trip to Lexington, Ky., to face Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 14, set for a 10:00 a.m. start. Xavier returns to the courts on Sunday, Feb. 15, hosting Northern Kentucky at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, starting at 2:00 p.m.Â

KENTUCKY
- The Wildcats are 4-1 with wins over EKU, Miami (OH), James Madison and Purdue, with the lone setback coming to No. 7 Duke,
- UK went 14-13 in 2025, with a 6-11 record in SEC play. The Wildcats advanced in the SEC Tennis Championship with a win over Arkansas before falling to LSU.
- The two programs last faced each other in 2016, in the NCAA Championship First Round in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wildcats took a 4-1 win.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY
- Northern Kentucky is 1-2 on the season, coming off a win over Thomas more. The Norse will face EKU on Friday ahead of the match against Xavier.
- The Norse went 8-10 last season with a 3-3 record in Horizon League play. NKU topped IU Indy in the opening round of the league tournament before falling to Cleveland State.
- Xavier took a 7-0 win in last season's match-up.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier will travel to Nashville next weekend for a pair of matches, taking on Vanderbilt on Friday, Feb. 20, set for a 12 p.m. ET start.
- The Musketeers will then face Lipscomb on Saturday, Feb. 21, set for a12:30 p.m. ET start. If the match is moved indoors due to weather, it will be moved to Vanderbilt's indoor facility.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.Â
- Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
- The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
- Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
