Women's Tennis Travels to Nashville to face No. 28 Vanderbilt and Lipscomb this Weekend

Musketeers face Dores on Friday, Bison on Saturday
CINCINNATIÂ - Xavier women's tennis travels to Nashville next weekend for a pair of matches, taking on No.28 Vanderbilt on Friday, Feb. 20, set for a 12 p.m. ET start. The Musketeers will then face Lipscomb on Saturday, Feb. 21, set for a12:30 p.m. ET start. If the match is moved indoors due to weather, it will be moved to Vanderbilt's indoor facility.

VANDERBILT
- The Commodores are 8-2 on the season and ranked No. 28 in the most recent ITA Team Rankings. Vandy has wins over WKU, Belmont, Notre Dame, No. 7 Michigan, Northwestern, Illinois, MTSU and Austin Peay, with the setbacks coming to ranked opponents, No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 18 Texas.Â
- Vanderbilt went 20-7 overall last season, with a 11-4 record in SEC play. The Dores advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA Championships, falling to No. 17 UCLA.
- The two programs last faced each other in in the NCAA Championship First Round last season, with the Dores taking a 4-0 win.
LIPSCOMB
- The Bison are 3-1 on the season, with wins over Tennessee State, Middle Tennessee State and Western Kentucky. Lipscomb will face Vanderbilt on Friday ahead of the match with the Musketeers.
- The Bison finished 2025 at 13-7 overall with a 6-3 record in ASUN play. Lipscomb advanced to the Semifinals of the ASUN Championship with a win over FGCU, falling to No. 1 seed Stetson to end the season.
- The two programs last faced each other in 2021, a 5-2 win for the Musketeers.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier added a home match with Michigan to the schedule for Tuesday, Feb. 24, set for a 10:00 a.m. start at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.Â
- Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
- The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
- Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
