Baseball Clinches Series Win with 3-2 Victory in Game Two at Cal State Fullerton

Musketeers and Titans wrap up the series on Sunday at 4 PM ET
FULLERTON, Calif. - Xavier held off a late rally by Cal State Fullerton to take a 3-2 win in game two of three, clinching the series victory against the Titans.
Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the third after Tommy Townsend got aboard with a one-out single and came home on a double from Jonathan Fitz. The Titans evened the score in the bottom of the frame, and the 1-1 tie held into the sixth.
Eddie Peters got on in the sixth with a one-out double and Clay Burdette was hit by a pitch to put two on for Peter Johnson. A double from Johnson put the Musketeers back in front, with Peters coming home to make a 2-1 lead. Burdette scored on a sac fly from Landon Mensik to make it a 3-1Â Xavier advantage.
Xavier took the two-run lead into the bottom of the ninth where the Titans got the winning run on base. Fullerton brought one run in with the tying run on second, but were unable to knot it up, setting the final score at 3-2.
The series finale with Titans is set for an 4:00 p.m. ET start on Sunday, March 1.

- Owen Poole entered for the final out of the game, picking up the save, his second of the season.
