Junior righty pitched 5.0 scoreless innings in win against Evansville
NEW YORK - Right-handed pitcher Ryan Piech earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.
Piech, a junior from Aurora, Ohio, made the start in Xavier's 8-1 win in the series opener against Wofford, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and three walks, striking out seven. Piech picked up the win, his third of the season.
Piech has a 3.72 ERA for the season through 29.0 innings pitched across six starts. He has a BIG EAST-best 0.90 WHIP, ranked No. 36 in NCAA DI, and leads the Musketeers and ranks second in the BIG EAST with 40 strikeouts on the season.
Xavier returns to action on Tuesday, March 24, hosting Cincinnati at Hayden Field as part of the Joe Nuxhall Classic. The Musketeers and the Bearcats get underway at 3:00 p.m on XAVIER+.
